How many students are enrolled at LCU?

In the Fall of 2012 Lubbock Christian University had a record enrollment of 2,135 students; 1,640 undergraduates and 495 graduate students.

What is it like to be a student at LCU?

Are there fraternities and sororities at LCU?

There are several men's and women's social clubs on campus. Social clubs are very similar to fraternities and sororities. See our social clubs here.

In what athletic associations, divisions, and conferences does LCU participate?

LCU is currently participating in NAIA, Division I. However, as of July 2012, LCU is going thru a four year transition period into NCAA, Division II.

What is chapel?

Chapel is a gathering of students, staff, and faculty to worship God and build community. We meet Monday through Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Chapel attendance is an essential part of the LCU experience and is mandatory for all campus residents and all students under the age of 25 enrolled in 12 or more hours. Part-time commuters, graduate students, and commuters 25 years or older are encouraged to attend chapel but are exempt from mandatory chapel attendance. All students living on campus, part-time or full-time, must attend chapel.

Do I have to live on-campus?

Full-time, single undergraduate students who have been out of high school less than four long semesters (two years) are required to live in campus housing. Qualified students must submit a petition for off-campus housing.

Are all LCU students required to have the Meningitis Vaccine?

Yes, all new students are required to be vaccinated. Find out more information.

May freshmen have cars on campus?

Yes, freshmen are permitted to have a vehicle on campus.

What is the female to male ratio?

Are students required to purchase a Dining Membership?

All campus residents living in residence halls have a Dining Membership as part of their room and board. Commuter students who are looking for value and convenience can also enroll in a Dining Membership.

Munch Money is a declining balance that may be purchased. Munch Money spends like cash at the Cafeteria, Take 10, Rec Center, and Koffee Kup.

What music groups are on campus?

Vocal ensembles include:

What opportunities exist to perform in drama or theater?

LCU presents a major musical theater production in the fall, and a major traditional theater production in the spring which is also presented at the Christian University Theater Festival. Each semester LCU also presents student-directed one act plays for which all students are invited to audition. LCU students have the opportunity to participate in one of LCU's signature events, Master Follies. Master Follies is a variety show featuring skits by the eight social clubs, emceed by student hosts and hostesses selected through an audition process. The production is presented every spring during Homecoming Weekend.

What are my options for living on-campus?

Men's Residential Halls:

On-Campus Apartments:
Available to students who are 20 years and older and have been out of high school for 4 long semesters or two years.

What if I don't have a computer of my own?

No problem. There are several computer labs on campus for your use. A few of the labs are located in the library, SUB, American Heritage, and the dorms.

Is there a curfew?

Freshman students are required to be in their residence hall at 1:00AM.

Is LCU affiliated with a particular religious denomination?

LCU is affiliated with the Churches of Christ. All of our faculty and Board of Trustees are expected to be members in good standing. About 40% of our students come from a Church of Christ heritage while the other 60% are from a wide variety of other denominational backgrounds.

What sort of ministries and outreach programs are available to students?

International Justice Mission, Spring Break or Summer Mission Experiences, Collide, UCan Share Canned Food Drive and numerous other volunteer opportunities in the local area. Check out some of our student service organizations and opportunities here.
