By: Kelli Childre

The LCU Presidential Search Committee has completed an initial round of meetings regarding presidential nominees. Candidates who have been invited for personal visits with the Search Committee in late January are:

L. Tim Perrin, J.D., Vice Dean and Professor of Law, Pepperdine School of Law, Pepperdine University

Brian Starr, PhD, Executive Vice President and Professor of Economics and Investments, Lubbock Christian University

Dean Tim Perrin is slated to visit the campus Tuesday, January 24, and Dr. Brian Starr is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25. In addition to a session with the Search Committee, each of the candidates will also spend time with a variety of university constituents, including a chapel presentation and meetings with students, faculty and staff.

"We have been so blessed to have received excellent nominations and candidates with a genuine interest in LCU. It is truly a positive reflection on Lubbock Christian University," says Sam Beard, Presidential Search Committee Chair and LCU Board of Trustee member.

Dean Perrin graduated from LCU in 1984 with a degree in history. He received his J.D. from the Texas Tech School of Law in 1987. Upon graduation from law school, he worked as an associate with the law firm Gary, Thomasson, Hall, & Marks, in Corpus Christi, practicing general civil litigation from 1987 to 1992. Dean Perrin began teaching at Pepperdine University in 1992. He served as associate provost from 2003 to 2007, at which time he was named vice dean of the law school. Tim is married to Lucy, also an LCU alumna, and they have three children: Hannah, Sam, and Will.

Dr. Starr holds a B.S. and M.A.R. from Abilene Christian University, an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. from Texas Tech University. He came to Lubbock Christian University in the spring of 2004 as an instructor in the Business Department. Prior to coming to LCU, he worked nine years in the retirement plan consulting industry as well as serving for four years in campus ministry at the University Avenue Church of Christ in Austin. In April 2008 he was named Executive Vice President of the university. He is married to Kristi, and they have three children: Josh, Caleb and Rachel.
