LCU is celebrating writing and all its many forms at the first Annual Writing Carnival, which will be held outside of McDonald Moody Auditorium on Wednesday, September 15.
The kick-off event for the Writing Carnival will be a 24-hour reading marathon which began today at 11:30 a.m. on the steps of the McDonald Moody. Participants will be reading The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis, aloud. Volunteers from across campus comprised of faculty, staff and students will be taking turns reading even during the late night and early morning hours.
The Writing Carnival is sponsored by the University Writing Center, the Department of Humanities, and Student Affairs. As part of the university’s push to incorporate writing in more classes organizers created various stations for the event covering 6-word stories, graffiti and doodling, haiku, limericks, magnetic poetry, sidewalk chalk, "Try these for openers..", "You finish it," and a caption station. During the event on Wednesday campus dining services will be serving carnival-style food for lunch outside in the mall area. In keeping with the carnival experience, attendees will be entertained by juggling and magic performances by two LCU students.
