Educator Certification

Areas of Certification:

 

Individuals wishing to obtain educator certification through the state of Texas typically earn the Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (BSIS) degree. The faculty of the Department of Education is committed to the LCU core values and will serve as advisors and mentors to those choosing this degree and the teaching profession.

Lubbock Christian University offers approved certification programs as follows:

  • Certification to teach all subject areas in pre-kindergarten through grade 6.
  • Certification to teach grades 4 – 8 in a particular teaching field: math, science, reading/language arts, and social studies.
  • Certification to teach grades 8 - 12 in one or two teaching fields. Teaching field options include: business education, english language arts, history, life science, mathematics, composite science, composite social studies, speech communication and technology apps.
  • Certification to teach EC-12th grade art, music, Spanish, special education,  theater arts, or physical education.

 

NOTE: All certification programs are subject to change by the accrediting agencies. Students should check with their academic department head for exact requirements. More information can be found in the University catalog.
