James is a full-time counselor at Lubbock Christian University’s counseling center. Prior to becoming a counselor, James served as a campus mentor and adjunct faculty for sociology and psychological statistics at LCU. He honestly cannot count how many other jobs he has had, though they include hotels, restaurants, construction, electrical work, fast food, retail, and door to door sales for approximately 20 minutes. In addition to counseling students at LCU, James leads an open mindfulness-meditation group in room 126 at Green Lawn Church of Christ every Monday and Thursday at 12 noon.
James has lived in Lubbock for 13 years and resides with his wife, Barbara, and his son, Tyler. James enjoys anime and comic books, and he is currently working on getting as many tattoos as Barbara will allow. His favorite thing in the entire world is reading. Barbara works as an English teacher and girls basketball coach at Coronado High School. Tyler enjoys being in school plays and musicals and hopes to be a marine biologist someday. James and Barbra are expecting a son, Max, in June 2014.
