Dr. Overstreet is seven-year veteran of the U.S. Navy Nuclear Submarine program and was awarded a Squadron accommodation for technical competence and leadership. He retired as a 33 year employee of the South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Company (STP) and has had an independent consulting company for over 15 years.
As he retired from STP he was responsible for the station's Business Continuation disaster recovery plan (BCP) and the Pandemic Influenza Continuation Plan. However, Dr. Overstreet's primary area of interest over the last two years was organizational effectiveness with a concentrated effort focused on the INPO and NRC initiative of a Safety Conscientious Work Environment.
Dr. Overstreet held leadership positions in the Quality Assurance, Nuclear Training, Human Resources (SPHR), and Information Systems departments. With his varied background he has a unique ability to speak the language of his audience from coaching CEO executives down to the worker on the shop floor.
In addition to extensive work in the nuclear industry Dr. Overstreet has worked with teams including NASA Engineering, hospital CEOs, off-shore oil, and sales & marketing executives.
He has just completed a six month assignment in Michigan at the DC Cook Nuclear Plant. He worked with the Chief Nuclear Officer, executive and station management in revisiting their vision, mission and realignment of their culture with their core values. He also worked with station management and personnel in the application of tools to reduce human error.
He has been recognized locally, nationally, and internationally for his
volunteer work with Special Olympics and community involvement.
