Paula and Sweet Sawyer

Paula and her iPad - a short story with many applications. The story began in the summer of 2010 when the Organizational Management and Leadership department purchased iPads for the department members. Shortly after, Paula took her iPad with her to Pine Springs Camp for a week, where she annually cooks all week for South Plains Church of Christ Camp Evergreen. Even though no cell service is available at the camp, Wi-Fi is available to anyone with a wireless device. Paula was teaching an online course at the time and was able to access her Moodle course throughout the day to visit with students via email, grade papers and comment on discussion boards, and she never got behind in her course.

Paula supports our evening and weekend Help Desk. At home she normally assists students and faculty with questions or problems on her PC. However, technology is mobile, so she is able to continue her tasks when she leaves the house by taking her iPad with her. She can log in remotely and continue functioning just like at home. Since her iPad is 3g/Wi-Fi capable, she can operate smoothly without a hitch wherever she goes.

Paula's latest chapter was written when her new granddaughter was born November 26, 2011.  With her iPhone or iPad, she will be able to stay current with photos, news and happenings of little Sawyer. She found apps that helped her daughter Kayla with Sawyer's record keeping. Tip for anyone expecting a child or grandchild, check out Baby Timer. The app is $4.99, but it tracks all the info the doctor needs to make sure baby is growing and developing properly; diaper changes, feedings, naps and a feeding timer. Then of course there is Pinterest, the coolest app ever. This app allows Kayla to pin anything that she feels Bubby needs to make for Sawyer. This is going to be fun!
