Chap Connection is an outreach effort hosted by the Lubbock Christian University School of Education for LCU graduates who are new teachers in the field. If you have been teaching three years or less and need some support, here is your opportunity to refresh, retool, and reunite! We will provide you with 6 hours of professional development credit as you participate in sessions that cover a host of topics relevant to K-12 teachers such as classroom management, assessment, managing diverse learners, and more. You'll leave with new strategies and ideas that you can implement in your classroom, while gaining strength and encouragement from your colleagues and friends.
Included in the event will be a book discussion over "Teach Like Your Hair's on Fire" by Rafe Esquith. This book will encourage and uplift! Come by the Education building, Room 206 to purchase a copy for only $9.00.
One session will include a time to share ideas. If you have a management tip, strategy, lesson, or something that worked well for you in the classroom, we'd love for you to share with the rest of the group! Secondary teachers send your ideas to cathy.box@lcu.edu and elementary teachers send your ideas to Annette.mahan@lcu.edu.
Chap Connection kicks off on Friday night, October 7, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. with dinner (location TBA). It continues on Saturday, October 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the LCU School of Education building. Breakfast and lunch will be provided along with a host of door prizes!
We look forward to seeing you back on campus!
