Kelli Childre is a West Texas native growing up in the small rural town of Floydada. Following her graduation from Texas Tech University with her bachelors’ and master’s degrees, she has been in the marketing and public relations field for 20 years. Starting as an intern with the Texas Department of Agriculture, she resided in the DFW metroplex for 8 years. During that time she worked for Metromedia Restaurant Corporation in the Bennigan’s marketing department and for Tom Thumb Food and Pharmacy as their Public Relations Manager. In 2002 she and her family relocated to Lubbock where she left the corporate world to be a stay-at-home mom until her children started to school. She joined the Lubbock Christian University Public Relations Department in 2005 as the Coordinator of Publicity and News. Her focus areas of expertise are community relations and event planning. Some of the more notable events she has produced are the Tom Thumb 50th Anniversary event at the former Reunion Arena in Dallas, LCU’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, LCU’s “An Evening with…” series benefit events featuring General Colin Powell in 2007, President George W. Bush in 2009, and US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in 2011. She also produced a signature athletic fund raising event, “Heart and Soul of Baseball with Josh Hamilton” and served on the planning committee for the inauguration of LCU’s sixth president, Tim Perrin.
