World War II battlefield photography exhibit featuredNov. 1, 2012
Reclaiming the Beauty of the Battlefields: A Photography Exhibition by Ann McDonald is on display through November 14 in the art gallery of the Diana Ling Center for Academic Achievement building on the campus of Lubbock Christian University. A reception with a gallery talk will be Thursday, November 8, 5–7 p.m.
The timing of the show is to honor veterans of all branches of the armed services. The nineteen photographs on exhibit show her emotional response to former World War II Pacific battlefields when she and her husband, Craig, visited the islands of Oahu, Saipan, Tinian, Guam, Iwo Jima, Luzon and Corregidor.
Ann Weaver McDonald is a native of Lubbock, a graduate of Lubbock High School and Southern Methodist University where she received a BS in journalism. In 2008 she self-published a book of the photographs on display under the same name.
