				<title><![CDATA[Part-Time Security Officer]]></title>

				<description><![CDATA[<p style="margin:0 0 0 0;"><b>Primary Function:&nbsp;</b>Provide security for individuals, various campus buildings and/or property within the university campus by locking and unlocking various buildings as directed. Issue tickets for parking violations. Work under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.</p>
<p style="margin:0 0 0 0;">Major Duties: The Security Officer will:</p>
<p style="margin:0 0 0 0;"><ul><li>Provide security services to the university campus by patrolling, locking and unlocking buildings, enforcing university policy and guidelines per Security Policy and Procedures. Admit authorized personnel, with appropriate identification, into secure buildings</li><li>Respond to emergencies by assessing the situation and employing tact, diplomacy, and individual judgment in order to remedy and/or maintain control of a particular situation.&nbsp; Contacting appropriate local law enforcement, emergency authorities, or the Chief of Security as needed.</li><li>Investigate complaints, criminal incidents, suspicious activity. and all accidents.&nbsp; Additionally, the security officer will prepare detailed written offense/incident reports.</li><li>Deter individuals attempting to commit criminal acts by maintaining a high level of visibility.</li><li>Gather pertinent information from individuals involved in an incident, and complete necessary administrative forms/reports related to the incident by entering them into the computer.</li><li>Raise and lower flags in front of the Administration Building.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain regular communication with Chief of Security and other campus officials as required.</li><li>If necessary, appear in court regarding incidents that occur on university property.</li><li>Provide crowd and/or traffic control during scheduled activities and/or emergency situations.</li><li>Observe and report faulty and/or unsafe utility equipment, including report of fire and other safety precautions when necessary.</li><li>Maintain and improve job skills and knowledge by attending training courses, classes and/or seminars.</li><li>Provide basic information and directions to university personnel, students and general public.</li><li>Perform other work-related duties as requested.</li></ul></p>]]></description>
