A motorcycle-driving, sky-diving adventurer who loves the family farm, Dr. Ken Jones was the president of Lubbock Christian University from December 1993 through January, 2011 before becoming the first Chancellor of the University. Born and raised in Oklahoma, he shares a passion for farming and ranching with his son who continues the family business near Cordell, OK.
After obtaining a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and working in that field for several years, he answered a calling to enter ministry, serving several churches as a preaching minister, the last of which was Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock.
His life-long study in leadership has served the LCU faculty, staff and students well. His personal humility and penchant for seeking the insights of those he leads, along with his empowering leadership style have contributed to astounding growth of student enrollment, programming, and overall stability of the university.
Ken and his wife, Suzie, live in the Chancellor's Home provided for them by the university which they routinely use to entertain guests from the campus, the community, and beyond. Some of their favorite guests are their grandchildren, who have an uncanny ability to bring out the silliness in their granddad, the university chancellor.
