Monica Lopez Barnard
Serving the university as an in-house attorney was not something that Monica Lopez Barnard ('02) dreamed of as a child, but during her time on campus as a very involved LCU student, she came to love and appreciate the university and eventually made the choice to give back to her alma mater by serving as the university's General Counsel.
Her expertise as an attorney has benefitted LCU since she returned in 2005 after receiving her law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law. She has also been integral in promoting awareness of cultural diversity among LCU students and employees. She works closely with Student Affairs in helping create a culturally sensitive campus.
Monica's husband, Zack ('06), is a strength and conditioning coach for the LCU athletics department, and he also owns and runs his own strength and conditioning business. The 2009 LCU National Championship Baseball team attribute a part of their success to Zach's demanding strength training. One of Monica's and Zach's greatest joys and passions are their little girls, Sierra Isabella and Zaya Jean.
