Lubbock Christian University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track, mathematics faculty position in the Department of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, which is to begin in August of 2008. Lubbock Christian University, founded in 1957, is a comprehensive institution of higher education associated with the church of the Christ. The campus is located in Lubbock, Texas (pop. 200,000), which is the economic center of the Texas South Plains. Approximately 2070 undergraduate and graduate students attend LCU.
Position Description:
The Department of Mathematics and Physical Sciences consists of 6 full-time and two part-time faculty members and offers programs of study in Mathematics (Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science), Chemistry (Bachelor of Science), and, in conjunction with Texas Tech University, a dual Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Engineering. The duties of this position include: teaching lower and upper division mathematics courses; advising and mentoring students; serving on departmental and university committees; and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications include an earned doctorate in Mathematics; a willingness to uphold the values of the university; and committed membership in the church of the Christ.
Preferred Qualifications include previous teaching experience, particularly at the college level.
