| Primary Function: |
Provides supervision and office support for the research lab, lab director and research assistants |
| Essential Functions: |
Serve as clerical and management support to the Research Director; responsible for coordinating day to day Director activities and related duties including student research assistants oversight, purchasing supplies and equipment in accordance with University purchasing policies and budgetary restrictions, and may participate as needed with academic and other special projects for the Research Director. |
| Duties: |
- Assist Research Director with preparation, processing and oversight of laboratory projects
- Data entry and research reports as directed.
- Make travel arrangements for director.
- Prepare expense reports for JLA accounts.
- Manage and monitor spending of the BRL accounts; JLA, JLA-Flavor and Welch.
- Monitor lab worker schedules and process biweekly payroll
- Prepare personnel action forms and all requisite LCU forms of employment for assistants.
- Manage director’s calendar.
- Set up appointments as requested as well as ongoing LCU, BRL, JLA and JMS meetings/conference calls.
- Take notes and prepare summaries of all meetings/conference calls.
- Purchase office and laboratory supplies reconciling purchase orders.
- Help director with class preparations including syllabi, exams, grading, and spreadsheets.
- Assist director with class meetings and proctoring exams.
- Assist in meeting preparation including logistics, hospitality, and presentation materials.

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent customer service skills.
- General chemistry and biology background, laboratory skills such as weighing, operating instruments and reporting data.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures.
- Skill in the use of standard office equipment and computer software including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Ability to communicate effectively over the phone and in person with students, staff, faculty and administration as well as JLA clients.
- Must uphold and support the mission and core values of Lubbock Christian University.
- Education and/or Experience
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. Experience with some science and laboratory background is desired.

| Physical Requirements: |
While performing the essential duties of this job, the Laboratory Office Manager is regularly required to sit and stand sporadically, frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing and picking up small objects, ability to talk frequently to convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly and must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information, and occasionally required to lift supplies and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Visual abilities are required by this job to prepare or proof documents or operate basic office equipment. |
