  Employee Benefits
REGULAR FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES:  Full-time faculty members and staff are eligible for all University benefits subject to the qualifying conditions of each benefit as established in the Employee Handbook-Policy and Procedure 2.1.1.
HEALTH BENEFITS Coverage is available through FirstCare Health Plans.   Effective date of coverage is the fist day of the month following completion of a 30 day waiting period.  Premium costs to the employee are set by LCU annually.
HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT Employees enrolled in the high deductible health plan may be eligible to deposit funds on a pre-tax basis to an individually owned medical savings account.   Eligibility is subject to IRS limitations.
LIFE INSURANCE At no cost to the employee, LCU provides up to 15,000 term life and accidental death insurance subject to the limitations and exclusions of the policy.
LONG-TERM DISABILITY At no cost to the employee, LCU provides a long-term disability insurance base plan.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM At no cost to the employee, EmployeeConnect services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with confidential support, guidance and resources, no matter what the issue.
DENTAL and VISION Coverage is available for purchase by the employee.
SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE COVERAGE Additional insurance products are available through AFLAC and Dorothy J. Price Insurance.
CAFETERIA [Section 125] PLAN Employees may elect to have cost for selected benefits deducted from their paycheck on a pre-tax basis, resulting in lower taxes.
WORKERS’ COMPENSATION INSURANCE Coverage is provided to all employees for injuries that may occur while in the course of performance of duties.
403(b) TAX DEFERRED RETIREMENT PLAN Full-time employees may make salary reduction contributions to the Plan with no waiting period.   A matching contribution up to 4% of participants’ base salary is contingent on length of service.
LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS Children of full-time LCU employees may attend LCS grades K-12 at a tuition discount of 40%.
TUITION ASSISTANCE A percentage of the tuition may be waived for the employee, for spouse and their dependent children from 50% to 100% contingent on length of service and specific program limitations.
SISTER-SCHOOL TUITION DISCOUNT Other Christian Universities award tuition discounts to eligible dependents of full-time LCU employees.
CHARGE PRIVILEGE Regular full-time and part-time employees may sign a charge privilege agreement to charge bookstore items and cafeteria meals to their personal employee account.
GROUP MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM Regular full-time and part-time employees may join as Sam's Club Group Advantage Members at a reduced rate and enjoy warehouse Club savings.
HOLIDAYS:  Regular full-time employees of Lubbock Christian University are provided approximately 18-20 holidays annually with pay.  If required to work on a holiday to accommodate specified University functions, the eligible hourly non-exempt employee will receive their paid holiday on another date.  The days specified as holidays are subject to administrative discretion on a year to year basis. 

SICK LEAVE ACCRUAL:  Staff employees who are scheduled to work at least 32 hours per week for a period of no less than 9 months are eligible for sick leave and holidays.
Maximum of 15 days may be accumulated 6 hours per each full month of employment
Maximum of 15 days may be accumulated Over and above 15 days accrued will go into an individual major medical sick leave bank


VACATION ACCRUAL:  Staff employees who are scheduled to work at least 32 hours per week on a 12 month basis are eligible for vacation, sick leave and holidays.  Eligibility for vacation pay is available for use after a minimum of 1 year from date of hire.
Maximum of 2 weeks accumulated annually 1 week for each 6 months of employment

EMPLOYEE SERVICES:
  • Athletic Events - Employees and their families are admitted free to all regularly scheduled LCU athletic events with presentation of ID card.
  • Auto Decal - Required auto decals can be obtained from Campus Security located in the Student Life Building.
  • Bookstore - Employees receive 10% discount on all items with the exception of textbooks.
  • Cafeteria - Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available in the University cafeteria.   Discounts are granted to employees.
  • Check Cashing - Employees may cash personal checks up to $100 in the Business Office.
  • Direct Deposit - Employees that are regular full-time and part-time will be eligible for direct deposit.
  • Employee Identification Cards - All employees (except temporary) are eligible to receive a photo identification card.   Cards are issued in the Office of Student Affairs located in the Student Life Building.
  • Library - Employees are eligible for all library privileges.
  • Payday – Salary payday is the 1st day of each month or nearest Friday or Monday.  Hourly bi-weekly payday is every other Friday.
