Family Medicine Physician
The 2006-2007 academic year marks Dr. Smith’s second as the Lubbock Christian University Medical Clinic Physician. Dr. Smith attended college at Abilene Christian University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology. He subsequently attended medical school under academic scholarship at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas. After obtaining his medical degree, Dr. Smith completed his internship, residency, and family practice training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. While in residency, he served on the staff of various hospital emergency departments, providing medical care to local rural areas. He also was a staff physician at various urgent care clinics. In addition, Dr. Smith served under Texas Tech SportMed as team physician for the Idalou High School football team. He also participated as a member of a medical mission team to Acuna, Mexico, where he provided medical care for underprivileged children and adults.
Upon completion of his residency training, Dr. Smith joined Southwest Diagnostic Clinic, LLP, where he practiced as a Family Physician. Over the past year Dr. Smith has developed the LCU Medical Clinic into a wonderful asset for the university. He currently sees LCU students, faculty and staff. His certifications include a Texas State Medical License and board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine. Currently, he holds professional memberships with the American Academy of Family Physicians, American College Health Association, American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, and Lubbock-Crosby-Garza County Medical Society.
Dr. Smith is originally from Brownwood, Texas. He now lives in Lubbock with his wife Tiffany, who is a homemaker. They have two very active sons, Braden and Jackson. In his spare time, Dr. Smith enjoys basketball, outdoors activities with his family, and being involved with his church.
