Curriculum
Students majoring in Animal Science at LCU receive a basic foundation in the general area of livestock production, i.e. selection, breeding, feeding, health and marketing of farm and ranch animals. Animal Science students also receive general instruction in plant science and agricultural business as well as other supporting coursework in chemistry, biology and genetics. Internships in the animal industry provide experience and opportunity for future employment.

- Livestock support industry (supplies, equipment, medicine)
- Product distribution industry (sales, service, research)
- State Cooperative Extensions Service (county agricultural agent, 4-H)
- Vo Ag. Teacher (In cooperation with Texas Tech for Ag. Ed. Requirements)
- Federal, State Department of Agriculture (Quality Control of feed and meat)
- Packing industry (procurement, pricing, marketing)
- Breeding Stock Industry (breed associations, private management, stock show management)
