Monetary Scholarships
Students invited to enroll in the University Honors Program (UHP) also receive an Honors Scholarship of $1,000 per year. As long as recipients, known as Honors Scholars, maintain the requirements of the UHP, they may renew the scholarship for four years. Those requirements include the following:
- Cumulative GPA in Honors courses of 3.5 or higher
- Cumulative GPA in all courses of 3.25 or higher
The Honors Scholarship, of course, is in addition to any other academic scholarship that students might have earned.
Travel Scholarships
Each year in the spring, the UHP selects students to receive a travel scholarship in order to attend the annual conference of the National Collegiate Honors Council, with whom our program maintains its professional affiliation. These conferences provide an opportunity for Honors Scholars to represent LCU at the national level by attending conference sessions, interacting with other outstanding college students from across the nation, experiencing exceptional cultural opportunities, and actually presenting their own research in a variety of settings. In 2002, we selected eight students to attend the conference in Salt Lake City, and seven of those were accepted to present research.
