Sandra Blackwood holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas Tech University. She has twenty-one years of teaching experience in private and public schools with her last eleven years at Monterey High School in Lubbock, TX. Mrs. Blackwood coordinates the placement of all pre-service teachers (field experiences) in city and area schools. She also works closely with each Professional Development School (PDS) used by LCU’s Department of Education and supervises work study students used as America Reads/Counts tutors in Lubbock schools.

Wanda Dyess, B.S.

Wanda Dyess received her business degree from LCU.  As the Director of Certification, Wanda works with education majors as they complete 60 hours of course work assisting them with application to the Educator Certification Program.  She also assists them with their certification needs from initial entrance into the program to making final appications to the state for their certificate.  Wanda coordinates all TExES exam informatin, and is the Coordinator for the Certification Enhancement Program (CEP); a program designed to help students pass the TExES exams as well as, receiving CEUs for state professional development requirements.  She also assists students by sending placement files to school disticts where they make application, as they apply for certification in other states, and by maintaining permanent certification records.   Mrs. Dyess is also responsible for the annual State Title II report.

Rhonda Wearden returns to Lubbock Christian University as the secretary for the Education Department after living in Colorado for nine years.  Rhonda and her husband Ken, have two sons.  Michael is currently a student at LCU and Patrick is a senior at Lubbock Christian High School.   

Joy Plank

Joy Plank is the supervisor for the Education Media Center. Her duties include stocking the lab with supplies and monitoring the education curriculum/children’s library. She is always here to assist teachers and students in whatever way she can. Joy and her husband have two boys.  Dusty is currently a student at LCU and Cody is a senior at Lubbock Christian High School.  Her favorite thing to do is spend time with her family and friends.
