Jesse Long, Ph.D.
  Chair of Undergraduate Biblical Studies and Ministry
Professor of Archaeology, Old Testament Text, and Preaching
Ph.D. - Drew University
Dr. Long is a world-renowned archaeologist. He is the co-director of a dig in Jordan of a city from the time of Abraham. Students from LCU can travel with Dr. Long to research this city and tour Israel and Egypt as part of their studies at LCU. He also lectures internationally on these topics. Dr. Long also teaches Old Testament and preaching. Dr. Long is the author of a commentaries and texts covering Kings and Biblical archaeology. He has also published many articles in noted journals around the world and recently lectured at the British museum in London. He has a particular interest in narrative preaching. He also serves on the campus ministry committee at the South Plains Church of Christ. Finally, Dr. Long is an avid Atlanta Braves fan and who attempts all who encounter him to be converted to the company of the “Braves Faithful”.
 
Jim Beck, M.S.
  Director of Missions
Assistant Professor of Missions
M.S. - Lubbock Christian University
Mr. Beck serves as the Director of the Missions program at LCU. He spent over a decade as a missionary to the Gheryama tribe in Kenya Africa. Mr. Beck also serves a minister in an inner-city church focused on the poor and disenfranchised of the community called Carpenter’s Church. His passions are for urban ministry and international missions. Mr. Beck also is an avid tri-athlete competing in triathlons and marathons.
 
Guy Brown, Ph.D.
  Professor of Philosophy
Ph.D. - University of Dallas
Dr. Brown is a world-renowned scholar in philosophy and political philosophy. He served as a Director of the International Fulbright scholarships for the Pacific Rim under Ronald Reagan. He has authored numerous articles and books on a variety of philosophical subjects, including a noted text on the political philosophy of John C. Calhoun. He has also received numerous international awards for his contributions to philosophical thought and the international community. Dr. Brown’s passion is the application of classical western philosophy to ministry and life. Dr. Brown just purchased a home with a beautiful view of Yellow Creek Canyon and enjoys writing from his porch.
 
Brandon L. Fredenburg, Ph.D.
  Associate Professor - Biblical Text, Greek, and Spiritual Formation
Ph.D. - University of Denver and The Iliff School of Theology
Dr. Fredenburg is well-respected scholar and teacher. He serves the College of Biblical Studies as the Chief Academic advisor for undergraduate students. He is a noted scholar in Biblical Interpretation. He has authored a commentary on Ezekiel from both College Press and ACU Press. He also has contributed articles to noted scholarly journals. He has a particular interest in spiritual formation and is one of the favorite professors of many Bible majors on campus. Dr. Fredenburg also has served as an education minister and conference leader for churches around the country.
 
Kirk Hayes, M.S.
  Campus Minister
Assistant Professor of Missions
M.S. - Lubbock Christian University
Mr. Hayes is the Campus Minister at Lubbock Christian University while teaching non-majors Bible and missions at LCU. He served as a missionary to a tribe in Kenya for over 12 years before returning to the states. Students love Mr. Hayes for his work with missions’ teams and his heart for the undergraduate.
 
Stacy Patty, Ph.D.
  Professor - Theology, World Religions, Ethics
Ph.D. - Baylor
Dr. Patty serves as professor of World Religions, Church History, and Ethics at LCU. Dr. Patty is respected nationally as a scholar with a particular expertise in world religions. He serves in the administration of the American Academy of Religion and as a Fellow for the Lilly Foundation. Dr. Patty has authored articles on Ethics and Religion and is one of the most popular teachers on campus.
 
Mark Sneed, Ph.D.
  Associate Professor of Old Testament and Hebrew
Ph.D. - Drew University
Dr. Sneed serves as professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at Lubbock Christian University. Dr. Sneed is an internationally recognized scholar in the Wisdom Literature in Old Testament. He has authored several articles and texts on Ecclesiastes. Dr. Sneed’s outside interests include his family and race walking.
 
Barry Stephens, Ph.D.
  Adjunct Instructor of Preaching and Bible
D.Min. - Harding Graduate School of Religion
Dr. Stephens serves as an adjunct faculty member at Lubbock Christian University. He is the pulpit minister for the Monterey Church of Christ in Lubbock, TX. He teaches non-majors Bible and preaching at the undergraduate level. Dr. Stephens has an interest in the emergent church movement and church growth. He is also an avid Kentucky basketball fan.
 
Charles B. Stephenson, Th.D.
  Professor of New Testament Text
Ph.D. - New Orleans Theological Seminary
Dr. Stephenson serves as professor of New Testament at Lubbock Christian University. He has taught Bible at LCU for over 25 years. Much of that time, he served as the Chair of the Department of Biblical Studies. His interests in the text include the Pastoral Epistles and the Gospel of John. In fact, he served as part of translation group on the Gospel of John in recent years. Dr. Stephenson also serves as an elder for the South Plains Church of Christ.
