The Difference Between Family Life Education and Counseling
Family life education is rooted in a preventative model of intervention. Rather than waiting for families or marriages to become dysfunctional, family life educators intervene while families or marrriages are relatively healthy and provide guidance and instruction to strengthen families. In contrast, counselors work with families who are experiencing significant dysfunction and difficulty. The goal of family life education is to prevent the need for families to access counseling services.
